A Lesson Taught by a Pot of Uncooked Rice

A Lesson Taught by a Pot of Uncooked Rice Image by https://pixabay.com/ 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; Proverbs 3:5 (NKJV)           This afternoon, as my mom goes out to a nearby market place to pick up the goods that she bought, she still left me one single command, “as the rice hits the boiling point, turn off the stove. Just wait for me by then and it’s now my call.”           Being concern as I am, in my mind, I will just let the pot of rice to boiled then I will just lessen the heat so that it will be cooked just right, because that’s how I learned it and I know I am right. So I thought.           As my mom approaches home, she asked me if I turn off the stove. I said that I just lessen the heat by the time it boils. Then she explains to me that if I did it that way, the rice will be overcooked because of too much water in it that is yet to be evaporated by the heat. I need to turn off first the stove and let t

Secrets of A Man's Heart : Secret Sins

Hi Readers,

For our Day 1, I am proud to introduce you to our guess writer for today - my younger sister and faithful comrade in faith, Mariz. She is honestly the one who gave me an inspiration to begin this series, because she is faithfully committed to deal with our motives and secret sins. Hope that this message from her will speaks to our hearts. God bless us all!

Secret Sins

Psalm 90:8
You have set our iniquities before you, our secret sins in the light of your presence.

Psalm 44:20
If we had forgotten the name of our God or spread out our hands to a foreign God,
Psalm 44:21
Would not God have discovered it, since he knows the secrets of the heart?

The Lord sees us from above. Whatever we are doing, even in our most secretive style, or even just in our mind, He sees us. That’s why it was said in Matthew 9:4 that ‘knowing their thoughts, Jesus said, “Why do you entertain evil thoughts in your hearts?”’. God, revealed to Jesus what those teachers of the law were thinking.
Secret sins are so dangerous especially to people who claim themselves as Christians. You might seem fine and sinless or obedient in the eyes of others but not in the eyes of God. That’s more shameful (Ephesians 5:12).
In Matthew 23:25-26, it was said that we should clean the inside of the cup first before the outside. It only means that being a Christian outside is actually meaningless if your life inside is rotten. It won’t get you anywhere, believe me. What the Lord rewards are the things you do in secret, to glorify him, not the things you do to show people that you are a Christian in the surface.
Doing those secret sins are addictive. Evil practices are addictive. However, the true children of God overcomes sin (1 John 5). We can’t do it on our own, but God can help us. All we have to do is decide to really leave our sinful secret life behind. It begins with your decision to repent truthfully. True repentance means that no matter what happens, though temptation is so strong again, you will still choose to close your eyes because you love God more than anything else in this world. True repentance means that you decide never to do those sins again. And if you love God more than anything else, nothing is impossible for you.
We can never hide anything from God. If we keep on sinning like this, it only proves that we believed for nothing because Christ is not in us, and can never dwell in us.

“This is how we know what true love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. (1 John 3:16) Laying our lives means sharing the very life of Christ. It is not only about preaching the word or quoting the scriptures, but becoming the living Word ourselves- the word who became flesh (John 1:14) like Jesus did. We could do that by doing little things into people surrounding our circle or getting involve for a higher cause. What are you willing to do to love God and other people?
