A Lesson Taught by a Pot of Uncooked Rice

A Lesson Taught by a Pot of Uncooked Rice Image by https://pixabay.com/ 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; Proverbs 3:5 (NKJV)           This afternoon, as my mom goes out to a nearby market place to pick up the goods that she bought, she still left me one single command, “as the rice hits the boiling point, turn off the stove. Just wait for me by then and it’s now my call.”           Being concern as I am, in my mind, I will just let the pot of rice to boiled then I will just lessen the heat so that it will be cooked just right, because that’s how I learned it and I know I am right. So I thought.           As my mom approaches home, she asked me if I turn off the stove. I said that I just lessen the heat by the time it boils. Then she explains to me that if I did it that way, the rice will be overcooked because of too much water in it that is yet to be evaporated by the heat. I need to turn off first the stove and let t

Why Choose Compassion?

Maybe, many people would ask why I choose to support Compassion International? Well basically, it is the advocacy and mission that I am approve of. At Compassion, people choose to provide a solution to poverty - one of the most common problem of societies today - and that is to provide children with education, health care and basic needs, and also to help them find their purpose through means of connecting them to the local church. I believe that being a true follower of Christ, we don't just bicker or protest just like the common norms of the world today, but we help to identify the problem, trace the root cause, and provide a best solution to solve the problem.

In this video by Cristelle Vermeulen, let us find more about Compassion International and its mission. =)

What Compassion Does?

SHARING A MESSAGE OF LOVE AND HOPE

For more than 65 years we have worked to develop children into all God intends them to be. We are advocates for children, working to release them from the shackles of poverty. Through a holistic approach to child development, we carefully blend physical, social, economic and spiritual care together…in Jesus' name. It is an approach that has been scientifically proven to be effective.
On average, a child we minister to spends 4,000 hours in safe, nurturing programs, is at least 50 percent more likely to graduate college and is 35 percent more likely to find white-collar employment as an adult.
Our response to a world in need filled with millions of children living in poverty is simple: Love like Jesus did. Serve in Jesus' name.
Children are particularly vulnerable to the physical threats of poverty as well as its emotional and spiritual messages of worthlessness. By working in Jesus' name we speak messages of love and hope.

EVERY PERSON MATTERS

We devote ourselves to helping children of all faiths, cultures, backgrounds and race without imposing any religious belief or conversion requirements upon them. Every person is of infinite value, every person matters. And every act of love and compassion has eternal value. That’s working in Jesus' name.
We offer our programs to the poorest of the poor, to the children in greatest need, without ulterior motive because we are a "love thy neighbor" ministry. We love God, and we demonstrate our love and live out our faith by extending care to others — in Jesus' name — irrespective of caste, creed, class or religion.
Jesus Christ is the core of our ministry. His life and teaching shape our programs. All aspects of our programs align with His teaching. Jesus' teaching guides how we love people, respect communities and cooperate with nations. We teach God’s Word but do not require any child to become a follower of Jesus. Jesus welcomed everybody, and we do too. That is loving and serving in Jesus' name.

IN PARTNERSHIP WITH LOCAL CHURCHES

Our work in Jesus' name is performed in partnership with indigenous local churches. Local churches are best suited to address the holistic needs of the children in their communities because the churches are already located and involved in the communities. We believe that only churches working in Jesus' name can effectively deliver the whole-life care that children in poverty deserve and need to overcome the hopelessness and lack of opportunity poverty inflicts.
We rely upon and trust the ability of our church partners to create environments of unparalleled stability where children experience God’s love and acceptance in tangible ways. We, and our church partners, love our neighbors in age-appropriate, culturally relevant ways—never through coercion, manipulation or forced compliance.
Working in Jesus' name is not a platitude; it’s a strategy we’ve followed since Rev. Everett Swanson first created our ministry to children.

WE HELP CHILDREN FLOURISH!

Through a relationship with a local church and a caring sponsor, a child is able to discover his or her true value.

COMPASSION INTERNATIONAL MINISTRY

COMPASSION INTERNATIONAL MINISTRY
“This is how we know what true love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. (1 John 3:16) Laying our lives means sharing the very life of Christ. It is not only about preaching the word or quoting the scriptures, but becoming the living Word ourselves- the word who became flesh (John 1:14) like Jesus did. We could do that by doing little things into people surrounding our circle or getting involve for a higher cause. What are you willing to do to love God and other people?
