A Lesson Taught by a Pot of Uncooked Rice

A Lesson Taught by a Pot of Uncooked Rice Image by https://pixabay.com/ 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; Proverbs 3:5 (NKJV)           This afternoon, as my mom goes out to a nearby market place to pick up the goods that she bought, she still left me one single command, “as the rice hits the boiling point, turn off the stove. Just wait for me by then and it’s now my call.”           Being concern as I am, in my mind, I will just let the pot of rice to boiled then I will just lessen the heat so that it will be cooked just right, because that’s how I learned it and I know I am right. So I thought.           As my mom approaches home, she asked me if I turn off the stove. I said that I just lessen the heat by the time it boils. Then she explains to me that if I did it that way, the rice will be overcooked because of too much water in it that is yet to be evaporated by the heat. I need to turn off first the stove and let t

My Faith Heroes

“For I am crucified with Christ. It is                 not I who lives but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith, through the Son of God, who loves me and gave Himself for me.”
                                                                                                -Galatians 2:20

Galatians Chapter 2 verse 20 is the one that I consider as my life verse. However, before that verse gave meaning to my life, I must say that I wouldn’t be who I am now and I would never come to now the Lord if not because of these people – my mother and father of faith. They are my faith heroes.

Hero #1 : Pastor Ricardo “John” Glory Mariano

I first came to know Pastor John on my fourth year high school. He is the only brave soul that time that ever dream that youths can do so much better with their lives only if they know God, hence, he approached our school principal if he can have the half session of our values class just to talk among youths. He never even talk about Jesus that time but revival came to all seniors that same year, months before graduation. Lunch period became our bible study hour, and Saturdays became Christian movie viewings on Vineyard of God Church. The youth ministry never ends on the whole seniors but it extend to the whole High School community of Christ the King School of Cabuyao, thus proving the name of the school that it is really for Christ.

In the absence of my biological father, he became like a father to me. To my Pastor, my great mentor, thank you for being the arms that hugs me when I go home crying and for knowing all my fears and worries even I am so shy to share my thoughts during my weakest moments. What I will never forget is when he told me that he will wait me in the pulpit. Also, when he told me the first time I tell him personally that I failed , “In Japan, they always say that success is not about education.”
Pastor John is the one who had given me an opportunity to attend School of Christ International –Philippines batch 99th, which was held at Flora, Apayao.
Pastor John is my father of faith, my mentor, my pastor and my faith hero.

Hero #2: Majorie Labindao

Ate Maj is my cell leader when I was all alone in Manila to get a College degree. I guess, she is a gift from God.
I first met her after a conviction that came to my heart during G12 Nat’l Conference last November 2015 “New Beginning” to find a home church in the city. Then, that is the time that I came to learned that one of my college buddies is attending a youth service called Wildsons, a ministry of Doulos For Christ (that is the same church being endorsed to me by Ptr. John).
To ate maj, you’re like a mother and a big sister to me. During those times that I am alone in Manila, you accepted me on your humble home. I love you ate maj.  The love that shed tears to people is so great. That is what I always remember from her, the time she stops in the midst of prayer because she couldn’t help but to cry for the youths under her care, that I believe that she is a great person.

COMPASSION INTERNATIONAL MINISTRY

COMPASSION INTERNATIONAL MINISTRY
“This is how we know what true love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. (1 John 3:16) Laying our lives means sharing the very life of Christ. It is not only about preaching the word or quoting the scriptures, but becoming the living Word ourselves- the word who became flesh (John 1:14) like Jesus did. We could do that by doing little things into people surrounding our circle or getting involve for a higher cause. What are you willing to do to love God and other people?
