A Lesson Taught by a Pot of Uncooked Rice

A Lesson Taught by a Pot of Uncooked Rice Image by https://pixabay.com/ 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; Proverbs 3:5 (NKJV)           This afternoon, as my mom goes out to a nearby market place to pick up the goods that she bought, she still left me one single command, “as the rice hits the boiling point, turn off the stove. Just wait for me by then and it’s now my call.”           Being concern as I am, in my mind, I will just let the pot of rice to boiled then I will just lessen the heat so that it will be cooked just right, because that’s how I learned it and I know I am right. So I thought.           As my mom approaches home, she asked me if I turn off the stove. I said that I just lessen the heat by the time it boils. Then she explains to me that if I did it that way, the rice will be overcooked because of too much water in it that is yet to be evaporated by the heat. I need to turn off first the stove and let t

I finally received my Giving Journal and New Hard Bound Bible today, all thanks to CBTL . (This is an additional Bible Collection. Another ESV from Crossway, Although it's not Global Study Bible unlike the first one that I have, sponsored by SCI. This one is more on Devotional Friendly one. More feminine and I love the color combination. It compliments the color of the Giving Journal. Feeling ko gaganahan ako magbasa haha. 😂 Next time I hope to buy other Bible version 😁)

Moments like this one makes me remember why I am here, and the very reason why I am in this place is because God puts me here. That is no doubt. That is probably because in this place I still got my freedom to spend a quality time with God and still cling on to the Father.

Many times, our heart may grow weak when we face changes, and that includes changing of work place or changing of colleagues. It is a series and loops of come and go, however right in this moment God is teaching me to let go of the things I cannot control and be overflow of thanks giving to the things that I may not wish to have but the Lord decided that I should have. This makes me value contentment even more. Being contented makes me realize that true happiness is not about material riches or having the greatest career. True happiness is resting on the presence of the Father and there is no place I would rather be.

This makes me remember the exact words of our pastor last Sunday , "Do not make a decision base on emotion. It's from the devil. "

Rather, let the Lord direct our paths. Only when He said so shall we go.

1 Corinthians 7:20-24, 29-31 (Please read the whole chapter.)

7:20 Each one should remain in the situation which he was in when God called him.

7:21 Were you a slave when you were called? Don't let it trouble you--although if you can gain your freedom, do so.

7:22 For he who was a slave when he was called by the Lord is the Lord's freedman;

similarly, he who was a free man when he was called is Christ's slave.

7:23 You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of men.

7:24 Brothers, each man, as responsible to God, should remain in the situation God called him to.

7:29 What I mean, brothers, is that the time is short. From now on those who have wives should live as if they had none;

7:30 those who mourn, as if they did not; those who are happy, as if they were not; those who buy something, as if it were not theirs to keep;

7:31 those who use the things of the world, as if not engrossed in them. For this world in its present form is passing away.

“This is how we know what true love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. (1 John 3:16) Laying our lives means sharing the very life of Christ. It is not only about preaching the word or quoting the scriptures, but becoming the living Word ourselves- the word who became flesh (John 1:14) like Jesus did. We could do that by doing little things into people surrounding our circle or getting involve for a higher cause. What are you willing to do to love God and other people?
