A Lesson Taught by a Pot of Uncooked Rice

A Lesson Taught by a Pot of Uncooked Rice Image by https://pixabay.com/ 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; Proverbs 3:5 (NKJV)           This afternoon, as my mom goes out to a nearby market place to pick up the goods that she bought, she still left me one single command, “as the rice hits the boiling point, turn off the stove. Just wait for me by then and it’s now my call.”           Being concern as I am, in my mind, I will just let the pot of rice to boiled then I will just lessen the heat so that it will be cooked just right, because that’s how I learned it and I know I am right. So I thought.           As my mom approaches home, she asked me if I turn off the stove. I said that I just lessen the heat by the time it boils. Then she explains to me that if I did it that way, the ric...

Day 2 - Do Not Linger Your Faith

Day 2

Do Not Linger Your Faith

In Genesis 19:16, it says “But he [Lot] lingered.” Lot lingers and is hesitant to accept the salvation offered by God to him. As a consequence, his wife returned to the life of sin and eventually suffered the wrath of God (Genesis 19:26); his children became ignorant to the truth, and thus committed sin also against their own father (Genesis 19:30); and lastly, Lot failed to attain the full highest potential of God’s promise for him (as a result of his Uncle Abraham’s faith). He settled for less in the plain areas, when God told him to go to the high lands and be saved.

As you see, God’s invitation to His Kingdom is for everyone. However, doubt and hesitations among us Christians, hinders us from growing into faith and discovering the truth of God’s word. The more we linger on deciding if we are truly of God and for God, or otherwise, the more also that we became ignorant of God’s truth and open prey for the enemy to taunt us into the life of sin again.

Learning from Lot’s life, his single hesitation results into the falling away of his own family from the faith. Same way, our hesitations will not only draw our own setbacks from God, but also harm our very family because they are looking up on our own life. (Please see Matthew 5:14-16 and Hebrews 12:13)

In conclusion, we have to have a radical decision to choose God’s side above all else.

“This is how we know what true love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. (1 John 3:16) Laying our lives means sharing the very life of Christ. It is not only about preaching the word or quoting the scriptures, but becoming the living Word ourselves- the word who became flesh (John 1:14) like Jesus did. We could do that by doing little things into people surrounding our circle or getting involve for a higher cause. What are you willing to do to love God and other people?
