A Lesson Taught by a Pot of Uncooked Rice

A Lesson Taught by a Pot of Uncooked Rice Image by https://pixabay.com/ 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; Proverbs 3:5 (NKJV)           This afternoon, as my mom goes out to a nearby market place to pick up the goods that she bought, she still left me one single command, “as the rice hits the boiling point, turn off the stove. Just wait for me by then and it’s now my call.”           Being concern as I am, in my mind, I will just let the pot of rice to boiled then I will just lessen the heat so that it will be cooked just right, because that’s how I learned it and I know I am right. So I thought.           As my mom approaches home, she asked me if I turn off the stove. I said that I just lessen the heat by the time it boils. Then she explains to me that if I did it that way, the ric...

A Life of Surrender

 "A Life of Surrender"

In 2 Chronicles 24:2 it says that 'And Joash did what was right in the eyes of the Lord all the days of Jehoiada the priest.

He was seven years old when he began to reign, and the first thing that he did as a king is to restore the House of the Lord.

In fact, in that same chapter, 'house of the Lord'was repeatedly mentioned 11 times - 2 negatively and 9 positively.

For the positive side, key words are restoration of, reparation of, work of, utensils for and burnt offering in the house of the Lord. In the New Covenant faith, we know that our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit of God. To become righteous before God, the first thing that we have to do is to restore our relationship to God by accepting Jesus as our Saviour. Repair our life by repenting from our sins and allowing God to move in our lives. We have to busy ourselves to the works of God, studying and meditating the scriptures and be connected to the Body of Christ. Here we see that our utensil is the word of God, both for our service and burnt offering. In the New covenant, our life is the burnt offering. Meaning, in offering our life to God, and in doing the works of His Ministry, we must ensure the we are in the context of the truth of the Word.

The negative aspects spoke of the wickedness of Athaliah because she had broken the house of God, and Joash abandoning the house of God after Jehoiada's death, because he listened to the counsel of his brothers.

Lesson, wickedness in the Bible first and foremost speaks of us breaking our covenant with God by turning our attention to other things other than Him. Root cause: we listened to the influence from others and worst is we only listened to our own self. If we do that, we will no longer recognized the voice of our Lord, and it will lead to abandoning our faith.

Jesus came to save us from our Sins that we no longer live for ourselves but for Him, so we have to make it a goal that our body and our life is fully surrendered to the Lord. By giving up self will, we allow ourselves to listen to God. Faith is God talking, while we listen and obeys.

“This is how we know what true love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. (1 John 3:16) Laying our lives means sharing the very life of Christ. It is not only about preaching the word or quoting the scriptures, but becoming the living Word ourselves- the word who became flesh (John 1:14) like Jesus did. We could do that by doing little things into people surrounding our circle or getting involve for a higher cause. What are you willing to do to love God and other people?
