A Lesson Taught by a Pot of Uncooked Rice

A Lesson Taught by a Pot of Uncooked Rice Image by https://pixabay.com/ 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; Proverbs 3:5 (NKJV)           This afternoon, as my mom goes out to a nearby market place to pick up the goods that she bought, she still left me one single command, “as the rice hits the boiling point, turn off the stove. Just wait for me by then and it’s now my call.”           Being concern as I am, in my mind, I will just let the pot of rice to boiled then I will just lessen the heat so that it will be cooked just right, because that’s how I learned it and I know I am right. So I thought.           As my mom approaches home, she asked me if I turn off the stove. I said that I just lessen the heat by the time it boils. Then she explains to me that if I did it that way, the rice will be overcooked because of too much water in it that is yet to be evaporated by the heat. I need to turn off first the stove and let t

Truth Concerning Life and Death

Last Sunday, 5th of December 2020, we lost a classmate and a precious friend.  To her family,  they lost a daughter, a sister,  a wife and a mother.  My last conversation with her was October 25 when I sent her a voicemail prayer,  then she said thank you.  I never imagined that it would be the last. This makes me realize that truly life is short and death is a very real thing. It's not even about the age or status in life.  It is real.  Since life is precious,  we really have to truly think what matters most in this life . Then it brings me back to the question,  "What shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world but loses his own soul? "

For the rest of us who are still living, let us think it over.  What is really the most important thing in my life?  Also,  as we think over that,  we also bear in mind,  that we do not live for ourselves but we also live for others.  If you will ask me what life should be like for myself,  I always remember this verse " And this is eternal  life,  that they might know thee,  the only true God,  and Jesus Christ that thou has sent. (John 17:3)" As I am trying to live up that verse,  what it is for others then.  Then I remember  John 15:13 "Greater love hath no better than this,  that a man lay down his life for his friends. "

Eternal life is no other than knowing Jesus Christ and growing our relationship with Him.  And loving our family,  and friends means sharing the life we found in Jesus in them.  That is the most important thing.

I will always miss my friend Breech,  and I am glad I talked to her that day.  I am hesitant that time but I believe God is talking to my heart to make that message to her that moment,  though it never occurred to me that it would be the last.

To the rest of us,  please always remember this,  John 11:25-26 says, Jesus said unto her,  I am the ressurection and the life: he that believeth  in me,  though he were dead,  yet shall he lives.  And whosoever liveth and believe that in me shall never die.  Believest thou this?

If we have God,  though we die in the physical body,  we have assurance that we will never be no more,  we will live together forever with Him.  And while we are still alive we are living in His presence.

Though  our love ones died before us,  if they have God in their hearts,  we know that as we live for God,  we will be reunited with them one day.

Hoping and praying  that Breech family is at peace  .  May you find comfort in God .

“This is how we know what true love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. (1 John 3:16) Laying our lives means sharing the very life of Christ. It is not only about preaching the word or quoting the scriptures, but becoming the living Word ourselves- the word who became flesh (John 1:14) like Jesus did. We could do that by doing little things into people surrounding our circle or getting involve for a higher cause. What are you willing to do to love God and other people?
