A Lesson Taught by a Pot of Uncooked Rice

A Lesson Taught by a Pot of Uncooked Rice Image by https://pixabay.com/ 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; Proverbs 3:5 (NKJV)           This afternoon, as my mom goes out to a nearby market place to pick up the goods that she bought, she still left me one single command, “as the rice hits the boiling point, turn off the stove. Just wait for me by then and it’s now my call.”           Being concern as I am, in my mind, I will just let the pot of rice to boiled then I will just lessen the heat so that it will be cooked just right, because that’s how I learned it and I know I am right. So I thought.           As my mom approaches home, she asked me if I turn off the stove. I said that I just lessen the heat by the time it boils. Then she explains to me that if I did it that way, the rice will be overcooked because of too much water in it that is yet to be evaporated by the heat. I need to turn off first the stove and let t

Retirement

“Teach us to number our days so that we may gain a heart of Wisdom.”
-Psalm 90:12

In one of his preaching, my pastor and mentor asked each one of the female youths their desired age for retirement
Most of them say 50 or 60, which is not really surprising. When its my turn, I say, I want to retire at 30. As most of the people do not know about me, it’s always been my desire to retired young because retirement for me is the day I will leave a phase of my life, preparing for another phase of happily serving the ministry and living my life the way God design for me to be and be happily living life to the fullest.
The day I will retired is the day I will stop working for people just for the mere reason of surviving and paying for debts while wearing out myself in the process.
In the next level, I will still serve people, but I am now pointing them back to Christ.
You know what’s funny, my sister laugh when I say 30. At the end of the service, I told her the reason why I say 30 defensively  and obviously stating that I feel offended. That moment, she tells me the reason why she laughed – “… it is because you only have few years to accomplish that.”
That is an awakening statement. I only have few time. Life could be that hard, but it is a series of testings for all the teachings and principles I come to learned through time.
Am I really readying myself to that kind of life I desired and just as exactly as the Lord’s plan? If yes, I am getting there. However, as I know for sure, I am still not so there are a lot of working out to do.
Thank God for He wakes me up to appreciate things that should matter most.

Lord Jesus, Please help me to live up my life fulfilling my purpose. The day I will retired is the day I will be a great servant to you. Lord Jesus, help me to walk the path straight towards you. Thank you Jesus for enriching this life. I love you Lord, I honor you, In Jesus’ Name Amen!

“This is how we know what true love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. (1 John 3:16) Laying our lives means sharing the very life of Christ. It is not only about preaching the word or quoting the scriptures, but becoming the living Word ourselves- the word who became flesh (John 1:14) like Jesus did. We could do that by doing little things into people surrounding our circle or getting involve for a higher cause. What are you willing to do to love God and other people?
