A Lesson Taught by a Pot of Uncooked Rice

A Lesson Taught by a Pot of Uncooked Rice Image by https://pixabay.com/ 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; Proverbs 3:5 (NKJV)           This afternoon, as my mom goes out to a nearby market place to pick up the goods that she bought, she still left me one single command, “as the rice hits the boiling point, turn off the stove. Just wait for me by then and it’s now my call.”           Being concern as I am, in my mind, I will just let the pot of rice to boiled then I will just lessen the heat so that it will be cooked just right, because that’s how I learned it and I know I am right. So I thought.           As my mom approaches home, she asked me if I turn off the stove. I said that I just lessen the heat by the time it boils. Then she explains to me that if I did it that way, the rice will be overcooked because of too much water in it that is yet to be evaporated by the heat. I need to turn off first the stove and let t

Stop, Look & Listen

Stop, Look & Listen
(Vineyard of God Evening Sunday Service, Preaching by Pastor John Mariano, March 29, 2020)

Book of Leviticus talks about the life of Holiness. Be clean and not unclean. Be holy as the Lord your God is Holy.

Applying this principle of holiness, when Romans 8:28 says that "all things work together for good, for those who love God, for those who are called according to His purpose.," the blessing on that verse in the midst of this current crisis today is only applicable to:
(1) those who love God, and
(2) those who are called according to His purpose.

If we will only stop for a moment, look into the heart of God and listen to His Word, His voice and His plan, we will know that a man can receive nothing unless it has been given to him by heaven (John 3:27).

Who are these people who are favored by heaven ?

John 3:36 says he who believes in the Son has eternal life, but he who does not obey the Son will not see life but the wrath of God is in him. Meaning, God will only listens and favors those who believe in His Son Jesus. On the contrary, to those who will not believe, the wrath of God is in them, thus so, whether they pray or no matter how good they are, God will never hear them from heaven nor heal their land.

How can we pursue a life of holiness then?

When we first believe God, it is given that we understood that we are sinners, thus we repent and turned back from our sins. However, it will never stop there.

1 Timothy 4:16 says "Pay close attention to yourself and to your teaching, persevere in this things, for as you do this, you will ensure salvation both for yourself and those who hear you. "
Simply put, maintaning a life of holiness is always paying close attention to ourselves (that we read the word of God, and by reading, we also apply the word into our lives). If we persevere in obeying the Lord by also doing the very same Word of God that we preach to ourselves and to others, we will ensure salvation to ourselves and to those people who are listening to us.

Matthew 1:21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins."
The main purpose why Jesus came down from heaven to earth is to save us from our sins, thus so, if we claim that we are cleansed by the blood of Christ, we must get rid of our sins.

Simple application in times of Pandemic crisis like this:
1. Instead of criticizing, if you know a possible solution, try to suggest the solution.
2. Instead for looking for other people's lapses, let us go back and look back to our life and see or reflect on our self first.

All praises and glory belongs to our God šŸ˜‡šŸ˜‡šŸ˜‡šŸ™šŸ™šŸ‘šŸ‘šŸ‘

God bless everyone.

“This is how we know what true love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. (1 John 3:16) Laying our lives means sharing the very life of Christ. It is not only about preaching the word or quoting the scriptures, but becoming the living Word ourselves- the word who became flesh (John 1:14) like Jesus did. We could do that by doing little things into people surrounding our circle or getting involve for a higher cause. What are you willing to do to love God and other people?
