A Lesson Taught by a Pot of Uncooked Rice

A Lesson Taught by a Pot of Uncooked Rice Image by https://pixabay.com/ 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; Proverbs 3:5 (NKJV)           This afternoon, as my mom goes out to a nearby market place to pick up the goods that she bought, she still left me one single command, “as the rice hits the boiling point, turn off the stove. Just wait for me by then and it’s now my call.”           Being concern as I am, in my mind, I will just let the pot of rice to boiled then I will just lessen the heat so that it will be cooked just right, because that’s how I learned it and I know I am right. So I thought.           As my mom approaches home, she asked me if I turn off the stove. I said that I just lessen the heat by the time it boils. Then she explains to me that if I did it that way, the ric...

Practical Approach To Christianity Volume 1 - Lesson 4: Faith: The Power of Belief

Chapter 4 – Faith: The Power of Belief

1Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. –Hebrews 11:1
19We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, 20where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek. -Hebrews 6:19-20

Have you ever wonder why you still keep on going in spite of the trials and circumstances of your life? Why do you still keep up and hang-on to life in spite of being tired? Probably, it is because you somewhat believes that there is more to life and there is something big that is gonna happen to you that would make a big difference and someday life would be far, far, more beautiful more than we know. It is as what according to C. S, Lewis, “There are far, far better things ahead than any we leave behind.” That power to believe is in itself, faith.

Faith is the substance of things hope for, the evidence of things, unseen. (Hebrews 11:1) Faith is like saying, “I don’t care like how long it takes me, but I’m going somewhere beautiful.” It is based on a strong will power that our future is being leverage to our someday life.
More than that, to us believers or to people who begins to believe, Faith is believing the Word of God and believing that the word is God and while we are reading the Word, it is as if God is talking to us. (John 1:1). The Word of God is a person – and it came to the person of Jesus Christ. He never stay as a Word. He was realized when he became real and became flesh and we behold His glory as the begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth (John 1:14).

The Importance of Faith

Through faith we understand that the world were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. (Hebrews 11:3)
By faith, Noah being warned by God made the arc.
By faith, Abraham leave his country to go to the land God promise for him, and by faith, though he is as good as dead, he still believe to receive the child God promise for him.
By faith, Moses refuse to be called the son of the pharaoh’s daughter and suffer for a greater promise
Through faith, we are purposely and patiently waiting for a promise.
For no unbelief makes him waiver concerning the promises of God, but he grows in faith as he give glory to God (v.1). Fully convince that God was able to do what He had promise (v.2).  (Romans 4:20-21)
Through faith, we are so convince that we will be able to leave a legacy in this world and that we could reach our goals, so we decided to live our dreams.

Faith inspires us to believe that God has better things for us, that without us, it could not be made perfect. (Hebrews 11:40) By faith, suddenly we begin to dream about our purpose, and that purpose is always in partnership with God. It is not all about trusting people, but trusting the God behind that people.

Celebrity actress, and now the wife of Prince Harry of United Kingdom, Ms. Maegan Markle once said that “Girls with dreams became women of vision.” Dreams are our channels of faith. With dreams to fulfilled and goals to accomplish, faith made its work to our lives. It is not just sole effort for us but we draws a connection to the divine through our prayers that our labors will not be in vain. Goal-after-goals and dreams-after-dreams, every answered prayers will made us closer to God, while every failures and disappointments will made us seek His refuge.
The very foundation of faith is the believership principle or the what we called “servant-King” relationship. This is a sole dependency to God as we connect to the source and pray for Him to receive His provisions.
What are the by-products of Faith? By products of faith are prayer, devotion, cell groups and Sunday service. To sum those things up, the ultimate product of faith is SALVATION.
For with the heart one believes and is justified. And with the mouth one confesses and be saved. -Romans 10:10

“This is how we know what true love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. (1 John 3:16) Laying our lives means sharing the very life of Christ. It is not only about preaching the word or quoting the scriptures, but becoming the living Word ourselves- the word who became flesh (John 1:14) like Jesus did. We could do that by doing little things into people surrounding our circle or getting involve for a higher cause. What are you willing to do to love God and other people?
