A Lesson Taught by a Pot of Uncooked Rice

A Lesson Taught by a Pot of Uncooked Rice Image by https://pixabay.com/ 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; Proverbs 3:5 (NKJV)           This afternoon, as my mom goes out to a nearby market place to pick up the goods that she bought, she still left me one single command, “as the rice hits the boiling point, turn off the stove. Just wait for me by then and it’s now my call.”           Being concern as I am, in my mind, I will just let the pot of rice to boiled then I will just lessen the heat so that it will be cooked just right, because that’s how I learned it and I know I am right. So I thought.           As my mom approaches home, she asked me if I turn off the stove. I said that I just lessen the heat by the time it boils. Then she explains to me that if I did it that way, the rice will be overcooked because of too much water in it that is yet to be evaporated by the heat. I need to turn off first the stove and let t

Girls' Figures Day#3

Hi Girls,

Time out for Practical Christianity. Let us concentrate on the next 7 post about how a girl can face emotional instability through growing her relationship with the Lord. Hope that you will be inspired from my journey to family relationship at home, career and life. =)

Greek Tongue Of Fire

“The tongue is a fire; a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets fire on the whole course of life, and it is set on fire by hell.”
-James 3:6

My older sister used to be my best friend when we were both younger, innocent and happier.
Through the years, many things happened, and as I thought that we are now a little bit bigger and wiser, we grew really apart.
We constantly fight every single moment and we couldn’t stand each other. There are few times when we still talk like casual sisters, but most of the time, her mere presence really irritates me a lot. I often compares us to “Bluebird and Sparrow,” that what she is, I will never be. I always think that she thinks the same way too. Luckily, I first surrendered my life to God. But, that is very wrong. As sons and daughters of God, we must follow the very same example of Jesus.
As I contemplate on that idea, I realized that being wise comes side-by-side with maturity. Now, thinking about it, I figure that maturity is not about age. Sometimes, those who short-lived life are more mature than those who is in this world longer.
I admit that I am foolish to add another wood to the fire of our fight every time. Honestly, those clothes that we are selfishly harboring from each other can be shared to each other. Those love stories she’s sharing with me, I can listen to that every time. If those can make our love grow fonder, then why not, right?
It is wrong for me to speak bad words about her because words are so powerful that it could might create a curse to her life. From now on, I must let love prevail.
That is also similar with every family to create a home. We must share to them words that define beauty, life and love instead.
The best words that we could ever share is the word and love that comes from God and let God be the center of the family. As according to Joshua “As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”

Lord, thank you for enlightening my life to things that matters most . Help me to love my family more and  let it transcend to other people as well. Lord, use me for a better purpose and let me dwell in your heart forever. Amen!

“This is how we know what true love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. (1 John 3:16) Laying our lives means sharing the very life of Christ. It is not only about preaching the word or quoting the scriptures, but becoming the living Word ourselves- the word who became flesh (John 1:14) like Jesus did. We could do that by doing little things into people surrounding our circle or getting involve for a higher cause. What are you willing to do to love God and other people?
